Why do I get disconnected when Im using the Web Interface? When a web interface is implemented there are privacy issues that arise; therefore, in order to minimize the privacy risks, WebMail has been setup to disconnect a user if he/she has not click on a selection in the interface in 60 minutes. If you are getting disconnected while composing a long message in the web interface, it would be best if you composed the message in a word processor- Microsoft Word, WordPad, NotePad, or Write Now - and use the cut and paste utility to paste the message in the compose box.
Im using Netscape. I can log in successfully from one location, but when I try to log in from my room, I keep getting an error message telling me that my password is incorrect. Whats wrong? You need to change the cache preference in Netscape so that every time you use Netscape it compares your password with the password on the server. Please do the following to make the change to the Netscapes preferences: Click on the Advanced Option at the bottom on the left side of the Preferences screen. Click on Cache. Look on the right side of the screen and find the option Document in Cache is compared to document on Network. Make sure you click in the Every time Box. Click ok.
When you go back to your room, log in via the web interface, click on settings,
click on the use fixed address option, located in the first section at the top of
the page, change the option from yes to no. By doing so, you be able to
use the web interface from anywhere in the world.
You can accomplish multiple deletes by using the search feature in any mailbox
you have open. Imagine that you have 200 messages in your inbox. 48 of the
200 messages are from your friend Tom Smith, and youd like to get rid of all
the messages from Tom. In order to get rid of Toms messages, put Tom,
Smith, Tom Smith, or any part of his name that distinguishes him from
someone else in the search box, located above the mailbox that you are currently
in and click on display. Once the messages you want to display are shown on the
screen, click in the Mark All button, located in the top right corner of the mailbox
screen. Check marks should appear in the box to the left of the messages. Scroll
to the bottom of the screen and click on delete.
TIP: The default display setting is 30 messages, you can change that
by clicking in the down arrow beside 30; therefore, in this case, change
the message display count to 300.
After you log in, click on settings at the top or bottom of the screen, scroll to the
bottom of the screen. Youll see a password box that will allow you to change
your password. Type in your current password, and your new password twice.
Click on modify, log out, and log in again with your new password.
